WHAT ARE WHITEHEADS?

A whitehead is called a “closed comedone”.  It is basically a blackhead that has not “matured” into a blackhead yet as the pore remains closed. Because the pore is not externally exposed to air, it does not discolor like the blackhead does. It just looks like congestion and bumps under the skin.  This is also called “maturation arrest” acne.  The pore will eventually open up and “mature” and a good vitamin a formulation can speed that process along.
